The Arora Group (“Arora” or the “Group”) yesterday (22 May) held an official Ground Breaking ceremony for a new 355[1]-room hotel directly linked to Heathrow Terminal 2, ‘The Queen’s Terminal’, which will be the first in the central terminal area.
The event, attended by key stakeholders from the Arora Group and guests of honour including broadcasters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, marked the start of the hotel build by the Arora Group’s construction division, Grove Developments.
The new hotel at Terminal 2 forms part of the Group’s pipeline of 1,110 new hotel bedrooms currently under development at London Heathrow Airport alone, including a bedroom dual-brand 300 bedroom Crowne Plaza® and 455 Holiday Inn Express® at London Heathrow Terminal 4. As one of the largest employers in the Heathrow area, Arora Hotels’ new hotel at Terminal 2 will join Arora’s Sofitel London Heathrow at Terminal 5, Renaissance London Heathrow and Holiday Inn London Heathrow T5.
Surinder Arora, Founder and Chairman of the Arora Group, commented: “Working on this brand new development at London Heathrow Airport, I am proud to mark this first official milestone in the construction of our new hotel at Terminal 2. Not only will this hotel provide exceptional facilities for visitors to London as well as new employment opportunities, the hotel will significantly improve the passenger experience for those travelling in and out of the airport with instant access directly into the terminal.”
Arora continued, “This hotel will be the first in the central terminal area, a section of the airport which is set to undergo significant transformation as part of a new-look Heathrow. We’re delighted that this development, alongside the Arora Group’s continual investment in the area, will play its role in providing a seamless experience for the millions of visitors using London Heathrow Airport and its facilities year after year, underlining its reputation, and ours, as one of the finest airport experiences in the world.”
Due to open in 2018, the new hotel at Terminal 2 will feature 355 bedrooms and provide first class facilities for business travellers, including two F&B outlets and 5 function rooms for meetings and events, taking Arora’s Heathrow portfolio up to 6 hotels with over 2,540 bedrooms by 2018.
