Arora Hotels announces its third Gatwick Hotel

MERCURE LONDON GATWICK

Arora International Hotels has reached an agreement with Hotel Property Investors Limited (HPI) to purchase the operating lease of the Renaissance Hotel at Gatwick on the 23rd May 2008.

As part of its extensive property portfolio, the Arora Family Trust already owns the actual hotel and the land on which it sits. However, Arora Hotels Limited (Arora’s UK operating company), will take over the running of the hotel, rebranding it under a Mercure franchise (an Accor Hospitality brand) as Mercure London Gatwick. The hotel offers 254 comfortable and spacious guest rooms spread over five floors and incorporates 2,125 square metres of meeting space with ample parking for business and leisure guests alike.

Surinder Arora, chairman of Arora Hotels said: “Gatwick is one of the most important business and tourist hubs in the South-East of England and I am delighted to add the Mercure as our third property here. I am confident the hotel will provide an excellent base for guests and we look forward to working with Accor to raise the profile of this hotel and help develop the Mercure brand in the UK.”

Jean-Jacques Dessors, Managing Director of Accor Hotels in the UK added ‘We have had a long and fruitful relationship with Arora International and we look forward to working together on this new venture. This hotel is in a key location for the brand and further re-enforces our ambitions to make Mercure a major player in the UK market.’

Mercure London Gatwick is ideally located being only half a mile from Gatwick Airport and minutes from the M23. Arora will be undertaking an extensive refurbishment programme at the hotel to bring it up to their renowned standards for quality and comfort, thereby increasing the range of hotels provided by Arora at this key UK gateway.

Mercure is a collection of hotels where individuality is combined with 4 star quality and the reassurance of guaranteed standards that come from an international brand of some 750 hotels worldwide. This will be the 29th Mercure hotel for the UK and the first airport presence for the brand which is renowned for its emphasis on traditional hotel keeping. A warm-welcome, professional personal service and a pride in quality food and wines including the renowned Les Grands Vins Mercure, are essential ingredients.
