InterContinental London - The O2 boasts the largest pillar-free ballroom in the UK.
InterContinental London – The O2, located on the Greenwich Peninsula, has been chosen to host the legendary annual music awards’ pre-show dinner and exclusive after party on Wednesday 22nd February.
In its 37th year, The BRIT Awards 2017 with Mastercard, will take place at the iconic The O2 arena, venue host since 2011. The InterContinental London – The O2, adjacent to the arena, will host over 1,200 celebrities and guests for a night of celebration, kicking off with the exclusive Diamond Dinepre-show experience.
Maggie Crowe, Director of Events & Charities at British Recorded Music Industry, commented, “It has been an absolute pleasure working with the InterContinental London – The O2; the Arora Ballroom offers a vast space that we can completely customise to our requirements; ideal for this prestigious event. The entire venue team has worked seamlessly alongside The BRITs team throughout to achieve the brief and, with no request too eccentric, they have truly embraced our vision with creativity and flare. We’ve built a lasting relationship with the hotel.”
Guests will arrive at the InterContinental London – The O2 via The BRITs red carpet entrance in to the hotel’s pre-function ‘Riverview’ space, with panoramic views across the River Thames and Canary Wharf; before moving through to the ‘BRITs VIP Club’ for a sumptuous three-course dinner in the Arora Ballroom, one of the largest pillar-free ballrooms in Europe. Dinner will be followed by a performance by ‘Rag and Bone Man’, this year’s Critics’ Choice winner.
Hasham Soliman, General Manager of InterContinental London – The O2, commented, “We are thrilled to be a part of such an iconic Awards night, here at the InterContinental London – The O2.The Arora Ballroom was designed to accommodate exactly this type of large-scale event. As one of the biggest such event spaces in Europe, it offers the opportunity for complete customisation to every organiser’s individual requirements.
“Following the Diamond Dine experience, which takes the format of a more traditional dinner, guests make their way over to The O2 for the Awards ceremony itself, and we’ll then have 2.5 hours to transform the Arora Ballroom into two separate party spaces. One half will become a night club, and the other an immersive, experiential party room.Given the scale, timeframe and creativity of the event, The BRIT Awards are a great showcase for the space and for the talents of our team at the hotel.”
Guests will make use of a direct walkway connecting the hotel with The O2, where they will enjoy the live BRIT’s show which features unique performances, interspersed with legendary award presentations. After the show, guests will return to InterContinental London – The O2’s ‘BRITs VIP Club’ in the Arora Ballroom for the after party.
