Surinder Arora praises new management diplomas

SURINDER ARORA PRAISES NEW MANAGEMENT DIPLOMAS

Students Hotel chain founder Surinder Arora joined representatives from the hospitality industry in congratulating aspiring hotel managers for completing a new diploma at Central Sussex College.

The Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management and the brand new Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management, have been designed by the Institute of Hospitality to provide a flexible framework of relevant units which can be studied individually or as a whole qualification, to help develop employees within the industry.

Speaking at the recent graduation evening for the first group of Level 3 candidates, Philippe Rossiter, Chief Executive of the Institute of Hospitality, said: “When we launched the qualification, no-one else was delivering management qualifications specific to the hospitality industry below degree level, but we took the first steps towards this and I’m delighted to be here to celebrate the graduation of the first candidates and the launch of the Level 4 Advanced Diploma.”.

He continued: “With the projected growth of the industry and many employees aiming to climb the career ladder, these qualifications are addressing the shortage of leadership and management skills within the industry and helping to fulfil those aspirations.”

Mr Arora, whose portfolio includes six hotels in Gatwick, Heathrow and Manchester, is a strong advocate of training, having been denied those opportunities himself at a young age. The entrepreneur gave an inspirational speech which highlighted the importance of combining taught skills with a passion for the industry: “You have to be a people person to progress in the hotel industry and in the Arora Group we treat our staff like family and our guests like royalty. It is this passion which helps people to get where they want to go. With these qualifications, the sky is the limit.”

The Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management is starting this autumn, as part of the College’s higher education offer which will be provided by its new university centre.

The celebration took place in the College’s training restaurant, Le Cordon Vert, and was catered and served by Level 1 Professional Cookery students. Around 30 hoteliers from across the region joined the celebration.
